Alex recently graduated from the Master of Journalism program at Ryerson University, during which he worked as an academic intern for The Globe and Mail in the spring of 2020. For The Globe, he has reported on Atlantic Canada’s COVID-19 response, the mass shooting in Portapique, NS, and how a revered Canadian track coach groomed one of his athletes for sex. During his time as a student he also wrote for The National Post, Literary Review of Canada, and endurance sports publication The XC. A native of Prince Edward Island with a subtle French-Canadian accent, he likes to report on health care, education, running and human interest stories. He published his first book, Runners of the Nish, in 2018.
