Two days after a wind and rain storm tore through New Brunswick, more than 30,000 customers in the province remained in the dark late Wednesday.
The slow-moving storm brought winds gusting to about 90 kilometres an hour, leaving more than 100,000 people in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia without power at its peak.
The utility company, NB Power, says on X – formerly known as Twitter – that additional crews have been brought in to help with restore power.
In Nova Scotia, about 2,600 customers remained without electricity.
Neither NB Power nor Nova Scotia Power gave a timeline for when electricity would be fully restored.
NB Power says it understands that power outages are difficult at any time, but especially this close to the holiday season, and adds that the province’s Emergency Management Organization has set up several warming centres and charging stations.
