Police have issued a Canada-wide arrest warrant for a man wanted for first-degree murder in the death of a Toronto-area woman who went missing earlier this month.

Yuk-Ying Anita Mui, a 56-year-old from Markham, Ont., was reported missing by her family on Aug. 9, and her car was later found in east Toronto.

York Region police had said last week that burned remains found on Aug. 12 in Parry Sound, Ont., were later confirmed to be those of Ms. Mui.

Investigators now say they are searching for 47-year-old Zhixiong Marko Hu, of Markham, who is facing a charge of first-degree murder.

They say they’ve seized a van and SUV associated with Mr. Hu, and are asking anyone with information or who may have seen these vehicles to contact them.

Police have also charged three youths with firearms and fraud-related offences in Ms. Mui’s case but said last week that the trio’s exact involvement in the case was still being investigated.
