Cenovus Energy posts higher quarterly profit estimates

Cenovus Energy CVE-T posted a rise in second-quarter profit on Thursday, as the Canadian oil and gas company benefited from higher throughput volumes and an increase in production.

The Calgary-based company’s net income rose to $1 billion, or 53 cents per share, in the April-June quarter, from $866 million, or 44 cents per share, a year earlier.
