The action
In May, this three-bedroom house was listed for nearly $2.6-million and had competition from several other single-family properties on residential streets west of High Park. For five weeks, buyers floated through the premises designed by architect Charles Gane.
“Some buyers found the layout didn’t work for them because it’s an urban layout with the kitchen and living space upstairs, which was a beautiful space, but the bedrooms were on the main floor,” said agent Motria Dzulynsky.
“Toronto is still pretty traditional, but they do this in Vancouver and New York, so people had trouble wrapping their heads around it.”
The price was dropped to $2,379,000 shortly after Canada Day, and a new visitor lifted it back up to $2.4-million the next day.
“[The buyers] gave us a short time to accept it or not because they didn’t want to get into competition,” said Ms. Dzulynsky. “My client decided to accept it.”

What they got
More than 10 years ago, this two-storey house was built on a 25- by 133-foot lot with a cube-like façade and walls of windows. Solar panels cover the roof, and an upper deck also serves as a carport off a mutual driveway.
