The Ottawa Senators have signed centre Shane Pinto to a two-year, US$7.5-million contract, the NHL club announced Tuesday.

The deal has an average annual value of US$3.75 million, with a breakdown of US$2.5 million in 2024-25 and US$5 million the following season.

Pinto had nine goals and 18 assists in 41 games for the Senators last season.

He was suspended for the first 41 games of the campaign for violating the league’s gambling policy.

Pinto, a 23-year-old from Franklin Square, N.Y., has 30 goals and 40 assists in 140 career games with Ottawa.

He was selected by the Senators in the second round, 32nd overall, of the 2019 NHL draft.
